Successful test of Pinaka missile system

  • The DRDO and the Indian Army successfully test-fired the Pinaka rocket system on 9 April. The Pinaka Mk-I (Enhanced) Rocket System (EPRS) is an improved version of the Pinaka variant which has been in service with the Indian Army for the past decade.

Andhra Pradesh cabinet includes 14 new cabinet ministers

  • The new cabinet of Andhra Pradesh includes 25 cabinet ministers including 11 old and 14 new faces. Botcha Satyanarayana has been sworn in as the new Education Minister, Vidadala Rajani is the new Health Minister, while Tanati Vanitha has been given the important Home portfolio.

First flight of ‘Made in India’ flagged off

  • The first ever ‘Made in India’ Dornier 228 commercial aircraft was flagged off by Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia from Fasighat, Arunachal Pradesh. The aircraft will boost connectivity to remote towns of Arunachal Pradesh from Dibrugarh in Assam.

PM Modi to be honored with the inaugural Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will receive the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award for the first time during the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Award ceremony on April 24, 2022. The Prime Minister has also agreed to personally attend the event.

Helina Anti Tank Missile

  • India successfully test-fired anti-tank guided missile ‘Helina’ in high altitude positions in Ladakh. HELINA is a helicopter based Nag missile, which is one of the most advanced anti-tank weapons in the world. The missile has day and night all-weather capability and can strike targets with a minimum range of 500 meters and a maximum range of 7 km.

PM Modi, President Biden hold virtual conversation

  • PM Narendra Modi informed the US President during his virtual meeting that he spoke with the Presidents of Ukraine and Russia several times over phone and appealed to them for peace and suggested President Putin to have direct talks with the Ukrainian President.

103 years of Jallianwala massacre

  • On April 13, 2022, Jallianwala Bagh massacre completed 103 years. The tragic incident occurred on April 13, 1984, when General Reginald Dyer ordered his troops to open fire on a crowd of demonstrators blocking the only exit.

PM Modi inaugurates Prime Minister’s Museum

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated ‘Prime Minister’s Museum’ on 14 April. It is a museum dedicated to showcasing the contributions of all the former Prime Ministers since independence. PM Modi became the first guest to buy tickets.

Svanidhi Se Prosperity Program

  • The Svanidhi Se Samridhi program has been extended by the Housing Ministry to an additional 126 cities in 14 states and union territories. The objective of this program is to provide affordable working capital loans to street vendors.
