India grabs top spot in ICC Test Team Rankings 2021

  • After winning against New Zealand, the Indian Cricket team reclaimed the top spot in ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings. Virat Kohli, former captain of the Indian Cricket team, became the first cricketer to win 50 matches in all international formats.

Aung San Suu Kyi, a prisoner in Myanmar, sentenced to 4 years

  • The military junta in Myanmar has sentenced Aung San Suu Kyi, the ousted leader of Myanmar’s leader, to four years imprisonment. Myanmar’s military junta has sentenced Suu Kyi to commit against the military and violate COVID-19 rules. Since the military took over a democratically elected government, the country was in political turmoil.

India and Russia held Summit 2021  

  • The 21st India-Russian Annual Summit was held by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin. They also welcomed the first 2-plus-2 dialogue between defence and foreign ministers from both countries. Vladimir Putin and a high-ranking delegation visited India to attend the summit.

WINNERS of Jnanpith Award 20021

The Jnanpith Award, India’s oldest and most prestigious literary award, is awarded to those who have made a significant contribution to Indian literature.

Olaf Scholz has been elected the new Chancellor for Germany

  • Olaf Scholz, a Social Democrat, is the new Chancellor for Germany. Scholz ends the 16-year reign of Angela Merkel, the first female chancellor in Germany. After the leaders of the three parties reached a consensus, the Social Democrat was confirmed as the next chancellor for Germany.

Anil Menon Indian-origin NASA astronaut chosen for future space missions  

  • Anil Menon, an Indian doctor of Indian origin, was announced as one of the new astronaut recruits by NASA. He is a US Air Force lieutenant colonel and has previously served NASA as the crew flight surgeon on various missions to the International Space Station.

CDS Bipin Rawat is killed in a helicopter accident

  • In a tragic IAF Mi-17V5 helicopter accident, 13 people died, including General Bipin Rawat, Chief of Defence Staff, and Madhulika Rawat, his wife. General Rawat, India’s first Chief Of Defence Staff, was appointed to the highest position in December 2019. Bipin Rawat served as a point advisor to the Government on matters relating to the military, including the Navy and Army.
