  • Kidambi Srikanth is the first Indian male shuttler to win silver in the men’s singles event of the BWF World Champions 2021. Srikanth also made history by being the first Indian shuttler to reach the final of the BWF World Championships men’s singles.

KL Rahul named Vice-Captain for the India-South Africa Test Series.

  • KL Rahul has been named vice-captain by the All-India Senior Selection Committee for India’s three-match Test series against South Africa. According to an official release, Rohit Sharma was out of the Test series due to a hamstring injury, and KL Rahul is now the vice-captain.

Bill 2021, Election Laws Amendments Bill, was passed by Parliament.

  • After the Rajya Sabha had approved it, Parliament passed the Election Laws Amendment Bill (2021). The Lok Sabha passed the bill to amend the Representation Of the People Act. It also gives electoral registration officers the ability to request Aadhaar numbers from voters who wish to register to form their entity.

20 YouTube channels and 2 websites were banned by the government

  • The Government of India ordered the block of 20 YouTube channels and 2 websites that promote anti-India propaganda. The divisive content was posted in a coordinated fashion by the banned channels on a variety of important topics, including the Indian Army, Kashmir, CDS general Bipin Rawat, and many others.

Nagaland adopts Resolution to Repeal AFSPA.

  • The Nagaland Government unanimously passed a resolution requesting the state to repeal AFSPA. The government has stated that the state must be exempt from the AFSPA Act on numerous occasions. It grants soldiers broad powers to arrest without warrants and even shoot to kill in some situations.

Postponement of the annual World Economic Forum meeting

  • Due to the Omicron virus’s uncertainty, the annual World Economic Forum 2022 meeting will be delayed. The meeting was originally scheduled to be held in Davos Klosters, Switzerland, in January 2022. It is expected that the meeting of World Economic Forum will take place in early summer.

Sony-Zee merger

  • Sony Pictures Networks India Private Limited has announced that it has signed definitive merger agreements with Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. Their linear networks, digital assets and program libraries will be combined in the merger. The latest agreement will see Zee Entertainment merged with Sony Pictures in order to create a new company.

  • Women commandos from CRPF, who have been trained as VIP security officers, will soon be deployed alongside Z-Plus personalities. These include Amit Shah, the Home Minister, senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and other high-risk facing personalities for multiple tasks.

Former CM of Karnataka Siddaramaiah stated that the anti conversion bill was anti-Constitutional and anti-human being.

  • Harbhajan Singh, an Indian cricket ace, has announced his retirement. Harbhajan Singh is the first Indian cricketer to score a Test hat-trick. Harbhajan Singh is also the fourth most successful off-spinner in Test cricket, behind India’s Ravichandran Ashwin (India) and Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan (Sri Lanka).
