Dhyanchand Major Sports University in Meerut

  • Prime Minister Modi has laid the foundation stone for Major Dhyan Chand Sports University in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The Sports University in Meerut was established in the Salwa and Kali villages of Sardhana city at an estimated cost of Rs 700 million rupees. According to the Prime Minister, the university will provide international sports facilities for young people.

Former Pakistan Skipper Mohammad Skipper Announces Retirement

  • Former Pakistan captain and all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has announced his retirement from international cricket. Hafeez, 41, had previously announced his retirement from test cricket. He will now be retiring from all forms of international cricket, closing the curtain on his nearly two-decade career.

Alka Mittal is the first female Chairperson of ONGC

  • Dr. Alka Mittal has assumed an additional role as Acting President and CEO of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation. She has become the first woman to hold the position after Subhash Kumar, who retired on December 31, 2021. Mittal will take over as ONGC’s first female president and CEO for a six-month term.

New Home Isolation Guidelines for COVID Patients in India

  • The Health Ministry has issued revised home isolation guidelines for mild and asymptomatic COVID-19 patients. According to the new guidelines, COVID patients under home isolation will be discharged and their isolation may end after they test positive after 7 days and have no fever for 3 consecutive days.

Delhi announces weekend curfew

  • The Delhi government has announced a weekend curfew in Delhi to contain the surge in COVID-19 cases in the national capital. The weekend curfew will begin every Friday at 10 pm and continue until 5 am on Monday. The government also announced that Metro and DTC buses will operate at full capacity to avoid congestion at metro and bus stations.

Inauguration of Mega Projects in Manipur and Tripura

  • Prime Minister Modi visited Manipur and Tripura and inaugurated mega development projects in two major states. Development projects of Rs. Rs 4.8 billion was dedicated to Manipur, while Tripura received the new integrated terminal building at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport with two major development initiatives.

  • India’s Cricket Control Board has announced the Indian team for the 2022 ICC Women’s World Cup. Veteran cricketer Mithali Raj will lead India in the 2022 ICC Women’s World Cup, while the multi-talented Harmanpreet Kaur will be the deputy captain. The ICC Women’s World Cup will begin on March 4, 2022 at the Bay Oval in Tauranga.

Four former J&K heads of government to lose SSG coverage

New rules for T20I announced by ICC

The government makes 7-day home quarantine mandatory for all international arrivals

  • According to the latest guidelines issued by the government, all passengers flying from abroad will be required to self-quarantine at home for a week after landing in India. Passengers will need to be retested on the eighth day and, if positive, their samples will be sent for genome testing.
