Alia Bhatt stuns in a saree at Berlinale for ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ premiere; does ‘ulta namaste’ on red carpet – WATCH – Times of India

Rocking her character’s trademark white sari look, the actress walked the red carpet where she posed for pictures, signed autographs and greeted her fans. The actress was making the third Berlinale appearance, made sure to have a little fun on the red carpet.

In the video that came online, the star recreated his character’s Ulta Namaste and encouraged the audience to imitate him.

Speaking at the press conference, Alia said that her performance was born out of a long conversation with the director Sanjay Leela Bhansali – who had a very specific vision that required Starr to deepen his voice.

Bhatt said, “He wanted me … to get a foundation in my voice because I have a high pitch, especially when I speak with energy and it sounds a little childish.” “He wanted weight. He wanted intensity.”

He also said that Bhansali sought authenticity and performances that carry this story forward.

,gangubai Kathiawadi’, an adaptation of the book ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’, is about Gangubai’s rise from a weak sex worker to a powerful man in the red-light district of the city.

Bhansali said the film presented a story about a “brutal warrior” who was way ahead of his time and fought for the rights of sex workers.

“This is the story of a woman who was trapped as a sex worker and how she fought. How she fought for respect for women, how she fought for girls in brothels to be accepted into mainstream society fought.”

Bhansali said, “She asked for legalization of the profession and all this happened at a time when words like feminism and women empowerment were not yet coined. But I think she was way ahead of her time.”

‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ will be realese in theaters on February 25.
