1. (b) Wellington
Wellington can expect up to a foot of sea-level rise by 2040, a level not expected before 2060, according to research published May 2, 2022. Research has shown that sea levels are rising twice as fast. Faster than previously estimated. It would put New Zealand and the country’s two largest cities at risk decades earlier than expected. It includes Wellington’s capital city and the country’s largest city, Auckland.

In a sudden move, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), on May 4, 2022, raised the policy repo rate by 40 basis points to 4.40 per cent with immediate effect. This was unanimously decided by the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) in an off-cycle meeting to reassess the evolution of inflation-growth dynamics and the impact of growth after the MPC meeting on April 6-8, 2022. With this, the Permanent Deposit Facility (SDF) rate has been adjusted to 4.15 per cent and the rate of the Permanent Marginal Facility (MSF) and the Bank Rate to 4.65 per cent.

Nicholas Pooran has been appointed as the new captain of the West Indies ODI and T20I teams. This comes after captain Kieron Pollard announced his retirement from international cricket. Nicholas Pooran has played 37 ODIs and 57 T20Is for the West Indies and scored 1121 and 1193 runs. He is a left-handed hitter.
