1. (a) Karolina Bilawaska

Poland’s Karolina Bilawska was crowned Miss World 2021 at the 70th edition of the beauty pageant in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The first runner-up was Miss USA Mr. Saini, while the second runner-up was Olivia Yeses from Cote d’Ivoire. Carolina Bilawaska was crowned by Toni-Ann Singh of Jamaica, who was Miss World 2019.

India’s Manasa Varanasi was included in the list of top 13 at Miss World 2021 at 11th position. She failed to make the top 6. This comes almost three months after India’s Harnaaz Sandhu brought home the Miss Universe 2021 crown after 21 years.

Kalpana Chawla was born on 17 March 1962 in a Punjabi Hindu family in Karnal, Haryana. She was a woman of Indian origin and the second Indian to fly in space. He died along with his six other crew members in the 2003 Columbia Space Shuttle disaster. His first space flight was in 1997 as a mission specialist and primary robotic arm operator on the Columbia Space Shuttle.

Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe is a British-Iranian national who was arrested by the Iranian government on April 3, 2016 for plotting to overthrow the Iranian government. Despite denying the charges, he was held in custody for six years. After months of negotiations, he was finally allowed to leave Tehran on 16 March.

Cyclone Asani is likely to hit Andaman and Nicobar Islands on March 21. low pressure area. The one that formed on March 15 is expected to move east-northeastwards. After hitting Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Cyclone Asani is expected to move towards Myanmar and Bangladesh.

On March 16, a major earthquake of magnitude 7.4 struck 297 km northeast of Tokyo, Japan. About 2 million homes were left without electricity and transport links were affected. The earthquake occurred in the same area that caused the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster. Although a tsunami warning was initially issued, it was later lifted by the Japan Meteorological Agency.
