Delhi Capitals all-rounder Mitchell Marsh tested positive for COVID-19 on April 18, 2022, following which he was admitted to a hospital. He is among the five members of the Delhi contingent who tested positive for COVID-19. The DC medical team is closely monitoring his condition.

The new cabinet of Pakistan led by Prime Minister of Pakistan Shebaz Sharif took oath in a ceremony held on April 19, 2022. The new cabinet was sworn in almost a week after Pakistan’s parliament elected PM Shehbaz Sharif to replace Imran Khan, who lost the no-confidence vote. on 11 April. In all, 34 ministers were administered the oath of office by Pakistan Senate President Sadiq Sanjrani during a brief ceremony at the Presidency in Islamabad. The list of cabinet ministers includes 30 federal ministers and four ministers of state.

Cases of African Swine Fever (ASF) have been detected at a government breeding farm in Tripura. The farm is located in Devipur, Sepahijala district and is run by the State Animal Resource Development Department (ARDD). A total of 63 mature pigs had died in the farm due to unknown reasons, which raised the alarm. The state government has ordered mass hanging of pigs to prevent the spread of viral fever.

WHO Global Center for Traditional Medicine will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Jamnagar. The center aims to integrate the potential of traditional medicine with technological advances and evidence-based research.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will pay an official visit to India from April 24-25. This will be his first visit to India as the President of the European Commission. During his visit, the President of the European Commission will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

China confirmed on April 19, 2022 that it has sealed a comprehensive security deal with the Solomon Islands, an agreement Western governments fear could give Beijing a military foothold in the South Pacific.
