India’s first indigenous flying trainer Hansa-NG successfully completed sea level test

• India’s first indigenous Flying Trainer Hansa-NG successfully completed SEAL level test at Puducherry from February 19 to March 5, 2022.

•H ANSA-NG is designed and developed by CSIR- National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore. The aircraft was flown for Puducherry on 19 February covering a distance of 140 nautical miles in one and a half hours at cruising speed of 155 kmh.

• The purpose of the sea level tests was to evaluate handling properties, balked handling, climb and cruise performance, and other system performance.

• Hansa-NG has been designed to meet the requirements of the Flying Club of India and is an ideal aircraft for commercial pilot license due to its low cost and low fuel consumption.

9th edition of Sri Lanka-India naval exercise SLINEX begins in Visakhapatnam

• The 9th edition of Sri Lanka-India naval exercise SLINEX has begun in Visakhapatnam on March 7, 2022.

• The naval exercise will be conducted in two phases in Visakhapatnam on 7th and 8th March and the harbor phase on 9th March and 10th March in the Bay of Bengal.

• Naval Exercise SLINEX aims to enhance interoperability, exchange best practices, improve mutual understanding for multi-faceted maritime operations between the Indian and Sri Lankan navies.

• The Harbor phase of the SLINEX exercise will include cultural, professional, sports and social exchanges.

Government launches donate-a-pension program

• The Central Government has launched the Donate-a-Pension program which is an initiative under the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan (PM-SYM) pension scheme.

• Under the program citizens can donate premium contributions of their immediate support staff including drivers, domestic workers and helpers.

• Union Minister Bhupendra Yaad said that under the program workers in the age group of 18-40 years in the unorganized sector can register themselves and get a minimum amount of Rs. 660 to Rs. 240 every year depending on their age.

• After the workers complete 60 years, they will get a minimum assured pension of Rs. 3,000 per month.

PM Modi to address a seminar on International Women’s Day in Kutch tomorrow

• PM Modi will address a seminar on International Women’s Day in Kutch at 6 pm via video conferencing.

• Seminar is being organized in Kutch to recognize the role of women saints in the society as well as their contribution in women empowerment. More than 500 women will participate in the seminar to be held in Dhordo.

• Seminar in Kutch will include sessions on culture, women’s upliftment, religion, security, social status and role of women in Indian culture.

North Korea conducts major tests needed to develop spy satellite

• Data transmission and other major tests have been carried out by North Korea that are necessary to develop a spy satellite.

• According to the North Korean Central News Agency, the country conducted another important test on March 5, 2022 as part of its plan to develop a reconnaissance satellite.

• The agency said officials tested the satellite’s data transmission and reception systems and its ground-based control systems.

• The move comes because North Korea is launching a variety of ballistic missiles – including a missile discovered by South Korea this week.
