Counting of votes for UP, Uttarakhand, Manipur, Goa, Punjab and Uttarakhand assembly elections to be held tomorrow

• All necessary preparations have been finalized for counting of votes in Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, Goa, Uttarakhand and Punjab.

• Apart from this, counting of votes will also be done for the simultaneous by-elections to Majuli assembly seat of Assam. The counting process will start from 8 am.

, Counting trends and results of five assemblies will be available on the website of the Election Commission and will be updated every few minutes.

• In order to ensure complete COVID safe arrangements amid the ongoing COVID pandemic and during the counting of votes, the Election Commission of India has drawn up strict COVID protocols for the Counting Day.

Parliament of India will resume the second part of the budget session for March 14

• The Indian Parliament will return to its normal business schedule in the second part of the budget session beginning March 14. It will conclude on April 8, 2022.

• Instead of working in shifts in both the Houses of Parliament – Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, there will be a meeting from 11 am.

• This decision has been taken in view of the decline in the cases of corona virus in India. However, both houses will continue to use their chambers and galleries.

• In view of the third wave of the pandemic, both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were working in shifts in the first phase of the budget session.

The Union Cabinet approved the MoU signed between ICMR and Oxford University

• The Union Cabinet has given its approval to the MoU signed between Oxford University and the Indian Council of Medical Research.

• The MoU aims at capacity building for Indian scientists and researchers, collection of data in line with international standards and regulatory requirements.

• The two sides have also agreed to exchange and share views on three-vector borne diseases in the eradication phase and emerging infections.

• It will also work to develop a three-year action plan on capacity strengthening, training on data management, exchange of research fellows.

Cabinet approves setting up of National Land Monetization Corporation

• The Union Cabinet has given its approval for setting up of National Land Monetization Corporation to monetize additional land.

• NLMC will be a wholly owned Government company with an initial authorized share capital of Rs. 5,000 crore and the paid-up share capital of Rs. 150 crores.

• It will undertake monetization of surplus land and creation of assets of Central Public Sector Enterprises and other government agencies.

• NLMC is also expected to own, hold, manage and monetise the surplus land and building assets of the CPSEs under the closure.

FIH Men’s Hockey Pro League match between India and Germany postponed

• The FIH Men’s Hockey Pro League between India and Germany has been postponed due to the high number of COVID cases affecting the German team.

• The matches were scheduled to be played on March 12 and 13, 2022 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. According to an official release, the International Hockey Federation, India and Germany are already working together to find alternate dates.

• The women’s match between India and Germany will be played as planned from March 12-13 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.
