The G20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting began in Bali, Indonesia, on July 8, 2022, with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in attendance. This is the first meeting of the top US and Russian envoys since the start of Russia’s military offensive in Ukraine on February 24, 2022.

Former Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe was shot dead on July 8, 2022, at a campaign event. Shinzo Abe was shot during a speech today in the city of Nara, near Kyoto Prefecture. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has previously said that former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is fighting for his life and condemned the attack, calling it unforgivable.

3. (b) Rohit Sharma

Indian captain Rohit Sharma has become the first captain in cricket history to win 13 consecutive T20 Internationals. India achieved this feat by defeating England by 50 runs in the first T20I to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series at the Rose Bowl in Southampton on 7 July 2022. This was Rohit Sharma’s first match after recovering from COVID-19.

Two-time Wimbledon champion Rafael Nadal has pulled out of Wimbledon 2022 due to a tear in his stomach. He was to face Australian Nick Kyrgios in the men’s semi-final on July 8, 2022. Kyrgios has now reached the final of the event, where he will face either Serbian Novak Djokovic or British tennis player Cameron Norie.

5. (d) Kapil Dev

Legendary Indian cricketer Kapil Dev has been the Guest of Honor at the Indian Film Festival Melbourne 2022 (IFFM). He will be attending the event to celebrate director Kabir Khan’s film ’83’, which chronicles the Kapil Dev-led Indian team’s journey to the 1983 Cricket World Cup.

The fin whale is the second largest animal in the world, only the blue whale in length. This species was almost on the verge of extinction due to hunting during the 20th century. Subsequently, whaling was banned, and for the first time since, dozens of southern fin whales were recently caught feasting together in an “exciting” Antarctic show.

Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh inaugurated India’s first autonomous navigation facility named TiHAN at the IIT Hyderabad campus on July 4, 2022. The navigation facility was developed at an outlay of Rs. 130 crores.
