  • Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, who lost both his seats in the Punjab Election Result 2022, today submitted his resignation to the Punjab Governor.
  • Islamic State in Iraq and Syria has officially confirmed the death of its leader, Abu Ibrahim al-Qurashi, in a US raid on a northwestern Syrian city on February 3, 2022. In an audio message, the terrorist group named its new leader – Abu al- Hassan al-Quraishi. An IS spokesman confirmed that the new chief had been chosen by their slain leader.
  • Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, who lost both his seats in the Punjab Election Result 2022, today submitted his resignation to the Punjab Governor. Channi lost from Bhadaur and Chamkaur Sahib by 37558 and 7942 votes respectively.
  • Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami resigned from the post of Chief Minister along with his cabinet today. He will continue to serve as the caretaker chief minister till the new CM is sworn in. The BJP, which won the Uttarakhand assembly elections in 2022 with 47 seats in the 70-member assembly, is yet to name Dhami’s successor. The BJP leader lost by a margin of 6579 votes despite his party’s big victory from Khatima constituency.
  • The WHO Global Center for Traditional Medicine, which was recently approved by the Union Cabinet, will be the first and only global outpost center for traditional medicine across the world. The center will be set up under the Ministry of AYUSH in India.
  • After winning South Korea’s presidential election 2022 by a very close margin, Yoon Suk Yeol has been elected as the new President of South Korea. Eun Suk Yeol received 48.6 percent of the vote, while his rival Lee Jae-myung received 47.8 percent of the vote, the difference being less than 1 percent.
