UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath submits resignation to Governor, to continue as caretaker CM

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath submitted his resignation from his post to UP Governor Anandiben Patel, paving the way for the formation of a new government in the state. Yogi Adityanath met the Governor at Raj Bhavan and submitted his resignation.

According to an official release issued by the Raj Bhavan, the Uttar Pradesh governor accepted Yogi Adityanath’s resignation and requested him to continue as caretaker chief minister with his cabinet till further arrangements are made.

Yogi Adityanath-led Bharatiya Janata Party in Uttar Pradesh won a historic 255 seats in the 2022 UP assembly elections. The date of the swearing-in ceremony and the claim to form the government in UP are yet to be decided by senior BJP officials.

Yogi Adityanath presided over the last meeting of the outgoing cabinet

Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath chaired the last meeting of his outgoing cabinet before heading to the Raj Bhavan to tender his resignation. He thanked the people of Uttar Pradesh for supporting the BJP in the 2022 UP assembly elections. Adityanath also thanked Prime Minister Modi for his leadership and guidance.

The state cabinet passed a resolution during the meeting, emphasizing that the people of Uttar Pradesh have not only reposed faith in the policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), but also paved the way for it to form the government once again. Is. broad mandate.

Yogi Adityanath as the Chief Minister of UP

Yogi Adityanath was appointed the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh on March 26, 2017, after the Bharatiya Janata Party won the 2017 assembly elections, in which Adityanath was a prominent campaigner.

He has also been a Member of Parliament from Gorakhpur constituency, UP, for five consecutive terms since 1998.

Historic return of BJP in UP Assembly Election 2022

In the 2022 UP assembly elections, the BJP made a historic comeback with 255 seats for 403 assembly seats, paving the way for Yogi Adityanath to serve as CM for a second term in one of the country’s largest states. Its allies Apna Dal (S) and Nishad Party won 12 seats respectively.

With this victory, the BJP has become the first party to form the government in Uttar Pradesh for the second time in a row.
