Virat Kohli 100th Test: Fans to be allowed for India vs Sri Lanka 1st Test at Mohali

BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly told that there will be no restriction on Virat Kohli‘s 100th Test match. The BCCI has asked the associations to open on the basis of government instructions. This means fans will be allowed for India vs Sri Lanka 1st Test is to be played in Mohali on March 4.

Mohali Test in Punjab Cricket Association will be crowded as per government rules. The BCCI chief said that he has spoken to PCA president Rajinder Gupta and there will be no restriction.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah also confirmed that the first Test between India and Sri Lanka to be played at the Punjab Cricket Stadium in Mohali will not take place behind closed doors. He said that he has spoken to the PCA office bearers and they have confirmed that cricket fans will be able to witness the historic moment of Virat Kohli playing his 100th Test match.

The decision to allow spectators into the cricket ground is taken by the state cricket associations and in the present circumstances and is based on various factors as per the BCCI secretary.

India recently started West Indies behind closed doors. However, the current drop in COVID-19 cases has allowed hosting associations to allow crowdfunding. BCCI secretary Jay Shah said that based on the advice of the state health authorities, fans have been allowed to watch the games in Kolkata and Dharamsala. The day before the Lucknow T20I match was played without a crowd due to voting.

Virat Kohli will play his 100th Test match against Sri Lanka under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, who will lead India in Test matches for the first time.

India has to play the first match of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka at the Mohali Cricket Stadium.

The second Test will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
