1. (a) Draupadi Murmu
On June 21, 2022, the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance nominated former Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu as the 2022 NDA presidential candidate for the upcoming presidential election. Draupadi Murmu, if elected, will be India’s first president of tribal origin) The BJP Parliamentary Party meeting held on June 21 discussed the name of former Jharkhand governor and tribal leader Draupadi Murmu.

2. (b) Yashwant Sinha
Yashwant Sinha was nominated as the joint presidential candidate of the UPA and other opposition on June 21, 2022. Sinha was a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party but left the party in April 2018 and joined the Trinamool Congress.

3. (d) Ruchira Kamboj
Ruchira Kamboj, India’s current Ambassador to Bhutan, has been appointed India’s next Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York. She will succeed TS Tirumurti and is expected to take up the post of Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations shortly. Ruchira Kamboj was a woman from all over India at the top of the Civil Service batch of 1987 and the top of the Foreign Service batch of 1987. She joined the Indian Foreign Service in the same year.

Scientists have discovered the world’s largest known bacterium, visible to the naked eye for the first time in the saltwater of a red mangrove swamp in Guadeloupe, in the Lesser Antilles. Guadeloupe, a group of islands, is a French overseas territory. Thiomargarita Magnifica is the first bacterium to be visible to the naked eye, presenting as white filaments about the size of human eyelashes. Giant white bacteria were found lurking in rotten leaves sunken in the swamp.

Khabi Lem has become the most followed person on TikTok, overtaking Charli D’Amelio for the top spot. The 22-year-old social media sensation rose to the top of the video-sharing platform with 142.4 million followers, while 18-year-old Charlie D’Amelio has 142.2 million followers. Bella Porch has the third-largest number of TikTok followers, with 90.1 million followers. Khabi Lem started making videos on TikTok in 2020 after losing her job during the COVID-19 pandemic, and she posted her first video of her in March 2020.

6. (b) Dinkar Gupta
The Center appointed former Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupta as the National Investigation Agency Director General (NIA) on June 23, 2022. He is an IPS officer from the 1987 batch and will become the first full-time Director General of NIA. Retirement of former NIA chief YC Modi on May 31, 2021. CRPF Director General Kuldeep Singh had an additional role as Director-General of NIA after Modi’s departure. Dinkar Gupta will serve until his retirement, March 31, 2024 or until further government orders, whichever comes earlier.

According to the latest data from the Union Ministry of Trade and Industry, the United States has become India’s largest trading partner. India’s bilateral trade with the US reached $119.42 billion, surpassing India’s trade with China. Imports increased to USD 43.31 billion from USD 51.62 billion in the previous fiscal to USD 76.11 billion in the fiscal year 2021-2022 and by about USD 29 billion.

8. (a) AIIMS
Experts at AIIMS-Delhi have developed the world’s first anti-gravity bodysuit to enable astronauts to do yoga in space. It is India’s first astronaut body suit and will help astronauts strengthen muscles and prevent loss of bone density minerals. It will increase their weight in space by more than 70 percent to prevent astronauts from floating.

9. (a) Mausinram
Meghalaya’s Mausinram has set a new record for the most rain in a single day in June since 1966, breaking Cherrapunji’s record as the rainiest place in the world. The IMD said in a statement that Mausinram received 1003 mm of rain in 24 hours.

10. (b) Mongolian
Khuvsgul Lakes National Park, which is located in northern Mongolia near the Russian border, has been added by UNESCO to the world network of biosphere reserves. The reserve contains 70 percent of Mongolia’s freshwater or 0.4 percent of the world’s total.
