The Government of India has awarded the Prime Minister National Children’s Award to 32 children with exceptional merit and outstanding achievements in the fields of Scholastic, Innovation, Arts and Culture, Sports, Social Service and Bravery.

President Ram Nath Kovind has approved the conferment of the Jeevan Raksha Padak Series of Awards – 2020 to 40 persons. The awards include the Best Survival Padak for eight people, the Best Survival Pad for one person and the Survival Medal for 31 people. A Best Survival Medal Award was given posthumously.

Former Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, will be awarded the Padma Vibhushan, the second highest civilian award in India, for his major achievements in the field of public affairs.

President Ram Nath Kovind has approved a total of 119 Padma Awards this year – 7 Padma Vibhushan, 10 Padma Bhushan, and 102 Padma Shri. The Padma Awards are the highest civilian awards in the country.

Bharti Airtel announced on 28 January 2021 that it had become the first telecom operator in the country to successfully showcase fifth generation (5G) service on a commercial network in Hyderabad city.

The 2022 Women’s Asian Cup will be hosted by India from January 20 to February 6, 2022. This was confirmed by the Asian Football Confederation. The tournament will feature 12 teams, expanded from eight in the previous edition.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day was celebrated on 27 January 2021. The day is celebrated on 27 January every year as a memorial day for the victims of the Holocaust, the genocide of European Jews by Nazi Germany between 1941 and 1945.
