World Thinking Day is celebrated every year globally to inspire and speak out for young women. The theme of World Chintan Diwas is decided by the team of Girl Scouts and Girl Guides. The theme of this year’s World Thinking Day has been announced: ‘Our world: our common future: environment and gender equality’ Which highlights the importance of environment in the context of gender equality.

World Thinking Day 2022 History

In 1926, delegations of Girl Scouts and Girl Guides from around the world met in America for the Fourth World Conference to discuss the need for a day for Girl Scouts where they could spread awareness for Girl Scouts and Girl Guides.

It was decided in the conference that 22 February will be celebrated as Thinking Day as it is also the birthday of world leading guide Olev Baden-Powell.

Later in 1999, at the 30th World Conference in Dublin, it was decided that Thinking Day would be known as World Thinking Day to emphasize the international nature of the WAGGGS organization.

World Thinking Day 2022 is celebrated all over the world and is of utmost importance as it provides a unique platform to Girl Scouts and Girl Guides to interact with each other and discuss the issues faced by them.

World Thinking Day also promotes brotherhood and long-lasting friendships among Girl Scouts that are based on loyalty and respect.

World Thinking Day 2022 is marked through various events such as hiking activities, bake sales, seminars, etc.

The World Association of Girl Scouts and Girl Guides (WAGGGS) is a global association. It supports women-oriented and women-only Scouting and Guiding organizations in 152 countries around the world.

WAGGGS was founded in Hungary in 1928 and is headquartered in London, United Kingdom.

The World Association of Girl Scouts and Girl Guides is organized into five regions and operates five international guiding centres. WAGGGS also enjoys full member status in the European Youth Forum.
